Magnolia, congratulations on your spring cover! How does it feel to be a Dogue model?

🐶: Well, I was a big part of the Spring Photoshoot, but I didn’t expect to become the cover! We were highlighting our European Pear & Petals scent, and our team caught me in my most regal moments—it ended up being the perfect cover. Also, I got lots of treats, so I’d say the whole experience was a win.

What's your favorite part of spring?

🐶: It’s hard to beat rolling in the fresh grass. But the best part? Garden walks and porch time with Mom!

If you could design your perfect spring day, what would it include?

🐶: Wake up, stretch while Mom burns Wild Bamboo & Lotus Fern, breakfast (extra snacks, please), some quality time spying on the neighborhood from behind the boxwoods, a nap in the Applewood studio, and ending the day with a walk, cuddles, and belly rubs.

Tell us a little about your involvement with the new Spring Collection!

🐶: I’m really about pears this season. So that’s how we came to blend our European Pear & Petals fragrance! It’s one of my favorites. Also, if you didn’t know, I’m really the whole “why” behind Applewood Candle Co. About 5 years ago, I had really bad allergies. Everything changed when Mom started Applewood Candle Co. because she uses non-toxic ingredients that burn safely for the whole family.

Any words of wisdom for fellow pups this spring?

🐶: Always stop and sniff the flowers, chase butterflies (even if you never catch them), and never say no to an extra treat. And ask your parents to swap out their fragrances with Applewood Candle Co. if you have allergies!

1 – Create a Morning Ritual That Grounds You

Start your day with a peaceful ritual, like enjoying your morning coffee on the porch, listening to the birds, or taking a mindful walk. These small moments help set a calm and intentional tone for the day.

2 – Bring Nature Indoors

Celebrate the season by incorporating fresh flowers, potted plants, or even branches into your décor. Tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths are perfect for a spring refresh. If you love gardening, set up a small indoor herb garden for a fresh and functional touch.

3 – Refresh Your Dining Experience

Welcome spring with light, seasonal dishes like a fresh pear salad or a bright citrus-infused cocktail (recipes below!). Elevate your table setting with linen napkins, delicate floral accents, and candlelight for effortless elegance.

4 – Add Subtle Touches of Elegance

Elevate your home with small luxurious details—think a well-placed tray with candles and fresh flowers, elegant glassware, or soft throw blankets in pastel hues. Sometimes, less is more when it comes to effortless elegance.

5 – Create a Cozy Outdoor Space

Set up a little nook outdoors where you can relax—whether it's a porch, patio, or garden bench. Add soft cushions, lanterns, and a throw for those cool spring evenings.

Allison Shares her Spring Favorites:

"European Pear & Petals has become my favorite scent from our Spring Collection, so I just had to share a couple of pear-inspired treats! First up, Joanna Gaines' pear salad from her first cookbook is always a hit. (Confession: I usually cheat and just toast walnuts instead of doing her fancy buttered ones, and I love a mix of greens!). It's just the perfect blend of sweet and savory! To drink, I stumbled upon this 'Perfect Pear' cocktail recipe, and let me tell you, I think we've found our Easter drink! I’ll probably add a few pears to the simple syrup for an extra burst of flavor. If you try any of these recipes, I’d love to know what you think!" –Allison

Joanna Gaines' Pear Salad

Inspired by Joanna Gaines' original recipe, this layered arugula salad is a delightful blend of sweet, savory, and crunchy, perfect for a spring gathering or a light lunch. It features two key components: the vibrant salad itself, and a tangy-sweet Pear Vinaigrette that ties all the flavors together. You can find the original Pear Vinaigrette recipe here.

To assemble the salad, start by layering half of your chosen greens (arugula or a mix) in a glass serving bowl. Arrange half of the pear wedges over the greens, followed by half of the pomegranate arils and toasted walnuts. Repeat these layers, then scatter the crumbled blue cheese over the top. Just before serving, drizzle a few spoonfuls of the Pear Vinaigrette over the salad, ensuring the greens are lightly coated. Pass the remaining vinaigrette at the table for guests to add as desired.

The Perfect Pear Cocktail

Imagine the first blossoms of spring, a gentle breeze, and the sweet scent of ripe pears – that's the feeling you'll get with the 'Perfect Pear' cocktail. This light and airy drink blends the crispness of pear with the botanical whisper of gin, the delicate floral notes of elderflower liqueur, and a bright splash of lemon. It's like capturing a spring day in a glass, a refreshing and elegant sip that's perfect for celebrating the season (and pear-ing with your favorite spring candle). You can find the full recipe and bring a taste of spring to your next gathering here.
